My favourite author - Roald Dahl

My favourite author is Roald Dahl because he is very talented at writing stories. He has written up to 100 books. I have read many books that he has written with his illustrator Quentin Blake.
My favourite book is "The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me" because it has good words and pulls you right into his stories and makes you feel like your part of his world.
When he was in his teens, he went and worked for the Shell company and Shell sent him to Africa where he encountered a Black Mamba and many other things like the Black Mamba sneaking into his house in Africa and killing his dog and making new friends.
In WW2 he was a fighter pilot. He was shot down and crash landed in the desert.
He wrote alot of his adventures in his books with different characters.
He died in 1974 in England. You can visit his little hut where he used to write.

My trip to Ashburton to visit the Ashburton Museum

I visited the Ashburton museum to see the types of planes that are show cased there. I travelled with the "Young Eagles" club. This club is situated in Christchurch. It encourages young people to learn how to fly planes. We do not actually learn to use the controls until we are thirteen. If you keep practising you can receive your full licence when you are seventeen years old. In the mean time before you are thirteen, we fly to different places to learn more about planes.

At the museum we saw the first glider that ever flew in NZ. The glider flew a really long distance. We also saw this really cool plane which had flown in WW2. The owners cut the nose to make the plane shorter. They also changed the wings.

The plane I flew in entered Ashburton Airport. It was a Piper. I have a certificate for being a "Royal Member of the Young Eagles" At the back of the certificate you can record your flights where you have flown.

When I am older, I would like to be a pilot. I wish to pilot passenger planes.
