Today we worked with a buddy to present the ideas we found out about with our experiments to do with rockets and cars - force - action - reaction.
Here are some of us showing our presentations - slide shows and using the "Explain Everything" app.

Making balloon rockets - Yee ha!

Today we have gone crazy learning about Newton's Third Law - "Action/ Reaction"

We made rockets from balloons, string, tape and straws.

When we blew up the balloon and let it go, it flew out of control.

To give the balloon direction, we threaded a straw through string and taped the balloon to the string.

The string was up to ten metres long. The longest flight - or reaction flew for 11.65 metres.

Some of us climbed up trees to try to shoot the rocket up.

Now we are making rocket cars!

Watch this space!

FC Red verses Tom's Team on Saturday by Connor

On Saturday I verse Tom's team and we lost 4/5. They got a goal in the first 7 seconds. Then we started to score. One of the boys in our team tricked the goaly and tapped the ball in. Another goal was scored when someone kicked the ball across the goal and then Duncan tapped it in.
The goal that Tom's team got was when one of the boys kicked it and the defenders missed blocking it. The goal went in. Tom's team member - an attacker - took a good shot and it went in.
The final score was 4 - 5 to Tom's team.

Isabel's rats come for a visit

On Thursday Isabel brought her rats for show and tell. Her mum brought them in and told stories about when they got the rats. Bubbles and Squeak were very cute and made themselves at home. Isabel's dad mentioned about the Black Plague, a desease which was spread by the fleas on the rats backs. We also learnt that if a wild rat was born white it would soon be eaten by its siblings. There were some very good questions about how to tell them apart. Bubbles had a line of bubbles down his back and Squeak has red eyes and a faint marking on his back. Everybody wanted a cuddle with our cute visitors but it got too loud and Bubbles and Squeak became quite frightened and scared. Isabel showed us a trick that she had taught Bubbles, going up and down her sleeve. cute! It is clear that rats will be very good pets for someone who has time, energy and lots of love!! Thanks isabel for showing us your cute pets.
